3 of 9 (also referred as Code 39)
This is an alphanumeric symbology with self-checking
properties that offer variable length and a high degree
of data security. It supports uppercase alphabetic
characters and a few punctuation symbols in addition
to numeric. Code 39 is a linear bar code employing
two-element widths. Every character has five bars
and four spaces; three of the elements in any given
character are wide, and six are narrow. Every symbol
starts and ends with a unique start/stop character.
